Circa 1800 French Toile de Nimes indigo resist block printed cotton small quilt.A clasic and popular design of pomegranate motifs amongst stylised flowers and spotted patterns.Backed in a robust bourrette de soie of a wonderful grainy texture.The piece is  roughly and simply quilted with rather large saffron yellow stitching and is actually two pieces joined together going the opposite ways.A beautiful rustic piece with great charm

The white of the print is not 'clean' white more 'old' white and the saffron reverse has stains and some old marks.
