French late 18th/early19th century ramoneur chintz quilt blockprinted with paisley(boteh) motifs.Ramoneur refers to its dark ground, in this case a glossy deep aubergine.Originally a Provencal jupon it has been unpicked and is now a large panel.At he reverse two simple but effective cotton prints.

The dark aubergine chintz is vunerable to splits of which there are a few but the piece is in overall good condition.
