Circa 1780s French toile possibly from Orange blockprinted in a soft madder red on a grainy cotton with a woman following her donkey towards a rustic windmill.The vignettes are set amongst large scale stylised flowers and trees against a picotage ground and the piece is trimmed on two edges with a rasberry silk ribbon.

This textile document is from the collection of Elinor Merrell,renowned antique textiles dealer and museum consultant.

Some scattered small holes to the right along with a charming old darn.
