Mezzaro Border Section Italian 19th Century

Section of a 1840-50s Italian cotton Tree of Life mezzaro border blockprinted with vibrant red and mauve flowers amongst dense blue green leaves.Unusual in that it is quilted with a later 19th century red print on the reverse.

 In an as found antique condition with discolouration and staining to the white ground and some 'splitting' in areas around the brown and black colours due to oxidisation in the manganese used.
