Block Printed Document French 18th Century

Wonderful circa 1780-90s French blockprinted siamoise ( a handspun and woven cotton/linen textile) with stylised flowers and leaves on a picotage ground.The bleu de pastel,madder red and saffron yellow colours  are strong.

This is a document piece in an as found antique condition, that was once a layer of a Provençal quilt , so with tears and old pinprick stitch marks where the quilting threads were.
