Beautiful circa 1795 -1800 French from Alsace or perhaps Neufchâtel, cotton panel block printed with a large scale arborescent design of gorgeous madder red flowers and bleu de pastel on flowering branches amongst scattered decorated stylised flowers and leaves.Once part of  the hangings of a bed set and lined in linen.A wonderful document.

The design goes lengthways but the textile has been sewn to be used crossways with it's scalloped edges.

In an as found antique condition, the piece is made up of a pieced patchwork of pieces.There is some damage causd by the manganese dye causing separation and splits in the cotton in several places.
